here, (i) v^{2} + u^{2} = 2as

but in free fall it became = v^{2} + u^{2} = 2gh

where, v = 0m/s

           u = 40m/s

           g = 10m/s

now, 0² + 40² = 2 × 10 × h

      = 1600/20 = h

      = h = 80m

∴ height = 80m

∵ v = u + gt

= 0 = 40 +(-10) × t                  [ g = -10 m/s because it is retradation force]

= -40 = -10t

= t = 4s

∴ Time = 4s
