Correct question:-

A ball thrown vertically upwards. It goes through a distance 19.6m.Find the :-

(1)Initial velocity of the ball

(2)Time taken by the ball to rise the height.

Given:-

→Distance/height reached by the ball=19.6m

To find:-

→Initial velocity of the ball

→Time taken by the ball to reach the height.

Solution:-

In this case:-

•Final velocity of the ball at the topmost point is zero, thus v=0.

•Acceleration due to gravity(g) is -9.8m/ as the ball is going against gravity.

By using the 3rd equation of motion,we get:-

=>v²-u²= 2gh

=>0-u² = 2(-9.8)19.6

=> -u² = -384.16

=> u = √384.16

=>u = 19.6m/s

Now,by using the 1st equation of motion,we get:-

=>v=u+at

=>0= 19.6+(-9.8)t

=>-19.6 = -9.8t

=>t = -19.6/-9.8

=>t = 2s

Thus:-

→Initial velocity of the ball is 19.6m/s.

→Time taken by the ball to rise the height is 2s.
