at maximum height final velocity become zero i.e v=0

therefore,

using equation

v^2-u^2=2as      (take a= -9.8m/sec)

0-(98)^2= 2*(-9.8)*s

solving equation we get maximum height

s= 490 m

time taken to return earth

v=u+at

0=98-9.8t

solving equation

t=10sec
