A ball is thrown vertically upwards and return to the thrown after 12sec(g=9.8).find the velocity with it was thrown up

Total time taken = 12 sec,  g=9.8 m/s^2,  v=0
Time taken to reach the maximum height =12/2 = 6 sec
using (i) equation of motion
v=u+at
0=u+(-9.8)6      (NEGATIVE SIGN IS DUE TO THE UPWARD MOTION)
0=u-58.8
u=58.8
