A ball is thrown vertically upwards. Assuming the air
resistance to be constant and considerable :-
(1) the time of ascent > the time of desent
(2) the time of ascent < the time of descent
(3) the time of ascent > the time of descent
(4) the time of ascent = the time of descent

ANSWER:

The "time of ascent" < the "time of descent"

EXPLANATION:

When the ball is thrown up air it accompanies a certain velocity but when the object reaches a certain height and then falls due to gravity making the velocity constant as the free falling body no matter what mass has same uniform acceleration meaning similar velocity.

Therefore, when falling the total force acting on the body is a+g whereas when going up the force acting on the body is separated on both sides making the forces acting as a-g. if the a>g, then the time taken for the ball to reach upward is less than the time taken to fall. Therefore, the "time of ascent" < the "time of descent".
