A ball is thrown vertically upwards. It retums

reached by the ball, and (ii) the initial velocity
of the ball. (Take g = 10 m )​

(i.)

Let us consider the ball falling from the highest point to the ground

so

H =1/2gt²

H = 1/2(10m/s)(3²)    

H = 45m

3 Because Time of falling and going up = 6, so time of only going up or down = 3

(ii.)

Now let us consider the ball to return from the target to the point of where ball was thrown from

H = ut - 1/2gt²

0 = ut - 1/2(10m/s)(6)²

u = 10 * 6/2 = 30m/s
