time of ascent =half of time of flight=3s
$t = \sqrt{ \frac{2h}{g} }$
$9 = \frac{2h}{g}$
$h = 45 \: meters$
$time \: of \: ascent \: is \: also = \frac{u}{g}$
$3 = \frac{u}{g}$
$u = 30$
