A ball is thrown vertically upwards with a velocity of 30 m/s. If the acceleration due to gravity is 10 m/s2, what will be the distance travelled by it in the last second of motion.​

initial velocity of the ball = 30m/s acceleration due to gravity = -10m/s^2( negative sign come to show retardation because acceleration is in the opposite direction of the motion)

as we know the final velocity of the ball at its peak height will be zero

so v = 0m/s at the top

using third equation of motion = v^2-u^2= 2as

putting the value in the equation :-

0^2-30^2=2×-10×s. ( s is unknown )

0-900= -20s

-900/-20=s

45=s

so distance travelled by the ball to reach it's peak height = 45m but the total distance covered by the ball = 90m
