 A ball is thrown vertically upwards with a velocity X. If the acceleration due to gravity at that place is Y, the time for which the ball remains in air is​

Here we are given ,
• Initial velocity = X
• Acceleration due to gravity = Y

Now we’ll be using the equation as
a = ( v - u ) / t

Now as the ball is moving upwards and considering point of observation on the ground we will take a = - g = - Y

Final velocity will be 0 and initial velocity = X

Thus placing this in equation we get
t = X / Y

This time is just for ball to reach at the highest point

So the total time T will be 2 times the time taken by ball to reach at the highest point
• T = 2 X / Y
