Given :

Initial velocity = 20 m/s

Angle of incidence = 45°

To Find :

Time of flight of the ball.

Solution :

❒ A body is said to be projectile if it is projected into space with some initial velocity and then it continues to move in a vertical plane such that its horizontal acceleration is zero and vertical downward acceleration is equal to g.

  • Time of flight is defined as the time taken by projectile to come back at the ground.

Formula : T = 2u sin θ / g

» T denotes time of flight

» u denotes initial velocity

» g denotes acc. due to gravity

» θ denotes angle of projection

By substituting the given values;

➠ T = 2u sin θ / g

➠ T = 2 × 20 × sin 45° / 10

➠ T = 4 × 1/√2

T = 2√2 s
