Given, massofball,m=1kg;g=10m/s

2

Force of gravity on the ball,

F=mg=1×10=10N

Vertical displacement of the ball, s=4m

Since the force and the displacement of the ball are in opposite directions, work done by the force of gravity,

W=−F×s

=−10×4=−40J
