Mass=0.5kg

Height=Displacement=4m

Acceleration = -9.8 m/s^2

Work done = Force * Displacement

Force = mass * acceleration

Force = 0.5 * -9.8

Force = -4.9 N

Work done = F * S

Work done = -4.9 * 4

Work done = -19.6J

Given :

Mass of ball , m = 0.5 kg .

Maximum height reached by the ball , h = 4 m .

To Find :

The work done by gravity .

Solution :

We know , work done by gravity is given by :

\text{Work done}=\text{Change in potential energy}\\\\W=P.E_f-P.E_i\\\\W=0-mgh\\\\W=0-0.5\times 10\times 4\\\\W=-20\ J

Therefore , the work done by gravity is -20 J .
