A ball of mass m moving with speed 2v ,collide inelastically ( e > 0 ) with identical ball at rest . Show that fir head on collision , both ball move forward after collision .

Let v1 and v2 be velocities of ball after collision .
Using law of conservation of momentum »» »
m(2v) = mv1 + mv2
or
2v = v1 + v2 and e = v2 - v1/ 2v
➡➡ v2 = v1 + 2v×e
So ,, v1 =>> v ( 1 - e )
since e < 1 therefore v1 has same sign as v . Thus the ball moves forward after collision .
