Answer:

No, it is not violating the law of inertia. Because friction which is an external force is acting upon the ball which makes the ball come to rest.

Also due to atmospheric pressure, the ball comes to rest which is also an external force.

To Note : If the ball is supposed to move in vaccum, it will not stop.

Hope it helps you

Question1.

Question1.The force of friction acts between the two surfaces by opposing the relative motion of one surface over the other. For example, when the ball rolls on the ground, the force of friction acts between the surface of the ball and the surface of the ground. The irregularities between the two surfaces lock into each other and thus, stop the ball from moving any

further unless it is moved by an external force.

Question 2.

Simple answer is no

Law of inertia, also called Newton’s first law, postulate in physics that, if a body is at rest or moving at a constant speed in a straight line, it will remain at rest or keep moving in a straight line at constant speed unless it is acted upon by a force. The law of inertia was first formulated by Galileo Galilei for horizontal motion on Earth and was later generalized by René Descartes. Before Galileo it had been thought that all horizontal motion required a direct cause, but Galileo deduced from his experiments that a body in motion would remain in motion unless a force (such as friction) caused it to come to rest. This law is also the first of Isaac Newton’s three laws of motion
