It is due to the resistance experienced by the ball due to Frictional Force. Frictional force acts in the direction opposite to the direction of motion of the ball. Due to this opposition, the Kinetic Energy of the ball is dissipated as Heat Energy, thus the ball loses energy and equivalently its velocity, because of which it eventually comes to Rest.
