A balloon starts from the ground with an acceleration of 2m/s^2 , after 5 secs a stone is dropped from the balloon , find the time taken by the rock to reach the ground and the total height attained by the balloon when the rock reaches the ground.

v = u + at
a = 2 m/s2
t = 5
u = 0
v = 0 + 2*5 = 10 m/s

v² = u² + 2as
s = v²/2a
s = 100/2
s = 50 m
Now acceleration of the stone after being dropped is 9.8 m/so
u = - 10 m/s
s = 50 m
g = 9.8
t = 5 s
s = it + 1/2 at
By solving you will get time (t)

Hope it helps you.
