2 3/4 = 11/4ths = 22/8ths, or 2 6/8ths. (in case we’re talking elementary/mid school terms here, 4/4 = 1, 8/8 = 1, 16/8 = 2, so 16 + 6 = 22/8ths, or 2 6/8ths. don’t mind my “captain obvious” moment here if you’re not in those earlier years of school.)
two pieces you say, one being 7/8ths meters long. since we know the total to be 22/8ths, then the other piece should be 15/8ths, or 1 7/8ths meters long.
