A bank clerk calculated interest at a rate 5.5% p.a for 6 months on a certain sum instead pf 6.5% p.a for 5 months. find the sum if there was a difference of Rs 25.​

Answer:

Actual SI=  P×5.5×6 /100 =  33p /100×0.33p

Calculated SI=  P×5×6.5 /100 ×32.5p/100  =0.325p

Error in calculation=Rs.25.40=0.33p−0325p

⟹p=5080

Hence, original sum of principle=Rs.5,080
