A barcode reader is a type of Input device because it sends data into a computer.

Short note on Bar code reader:

⇒ It is capable of reading a barcode.

⇒ It uses a pattern of dark and light parallel lines of different thickness to encode a number.

Following are the types of barcode scanners/readers:

(a) Pen Type Readers

(b) Charged Couple Device readers.

(c) Laser Scanners

(d) Camera Based Readers.

Advantages:

⇒ Increased Efficiency

⇒ Smoother internal operations

⇒ Accurate capture of numerical data.

⇒ Data Integrity.

Disadvantages:

⇒ Do not have read/write capabilities.

Hope it helps!
