A barrel contains a mixture of wine and water in the ratio 3:1. how much fraction of the mixture must be drawn off and subsituted with water so that the ratio of winw and watre in the resultant mixture in the barrel be comes 1:1

Solution :-

In this question we have to divide the quantity to be drawn by the total quantity of that item. 

The mixture of wine and water is in the ratio of 3 : 1. To make the ratio equal, we need to draw 1 part of wine and add 1 part of water in this mixture. 

So, we have to take out 1 part of wine from total 3 parts of it and then substitute it with 1 part of water. Then the resultant mixture in the barrel will be in the ratio 1 : 1.
