Given info : A basket contains big and small balls. All the balls are either green or red in color.

30% of the balls are big balls. 50% of the big balls are green and 40% of all balls are green.

To find : the ratio of big green balls to small red balls.

solution : let the basket contains 100 balls.

a/c to question, 30% of the balls are big balls.

so number of big balls = 30% of 100 = 30

so number of small balls = 100 - 30 = 70

again, 50% of the big balls are green.

i.e., 50% of 30 = big green balls

⇒big green balls = 15

so rest 15 big balls are red.

and 40% of all the balls are green. it means 60% of all are red.

I.e., (big red balls + small red balls) = 60 % of 100

⇒15 + small red balls = 60

⇒small red balls = 45

now the ratio of big green balls to small red balls = 15/45 = 1/3
