Given:

A basket has 100 mangoes.

4 are distributed for every male and

2 are distributed for every female and

1 is distributed for every child

To Find:

Number of Males, Females and Children present.

Solution:

  • Let Number of males = M
  • Number of Females = F
  • and number of Children = C

Then,

  • 4M + 2F + C = 100
  • Therefore we have some conditions ,
  • M ≤ 25
  • F ≤ 50
  • C is even.

Let M = 15

  • 2F + C = 40
  • let F = 15
  • C = 10

is a solution.

It has finite number of solutions, since this represents a plane , but values of M, F and C are whole numbers.

Number of Males = 15 , no. of females = 15 and no. of children = 10 is a solution.
