As per question the batsman scores at an average of 40 runs in 4 innings

The total runs scored by the batsman is 40×4= 160 runs.

Answer:

The average after the fifth inning is 32.

Explanation:

Average after fifth inning of the batsman is found by = run made by him/total innings played by him

So, Average score of the batsman is 40.

Hence 40 = run made by batsman / total innings played by him

40 = run made by batsman / 4

So, total run made by batsman = 160

Average score  of the batsman for 5 innings =\frac{160}{5}

Average score of the batsman = 32
