A batsman's runs in 80 one day matches are as follows:
Runs               20-29  30-39  40-49  50-59  60-69  70-79 80-89 90-99.
N0 of Matches    1        1        8        13      20    22      12      3.
What is the probability that in the the next match the batsman will score :
(a) at least 70 runs
(b) at most 69 runs

a]  P=37/80

b] P=43/80

a] at least 70 means he may score above it that is 70-79 80-89 90-99

that is 22+12+3=37

b] at most 70 means not above 70 but may be less than 70 so 1+1+8+13+20=43

hope it

Given,

CI                  FREQUENCY

20-29              1

30-39              1

40-49              8

50-59              13

60-69              20

70-79               22

80-89              12

90-99               3

   Total             80

To find,

We have to find the probability that in the next match the batsman will score :

(a) at least 70 runs

(b) at most 69 runs

Solution,

Hence, the required probability is 37/80 and 43/80 respectively.

We can simply find the required probability by using the concepts of probability.

At least 70 runs means, more than 70

Number of favorable cases = 37

Probability ( at least 70 runs) = 37/80

Now, At most 69 runs = less than 69

Number of favorable cases = 43

Probability ( at most 69 runs) = 43/80

Hence, the required probability is 37/80 and 43/80 respectively.
