>The current flow through the 0.3 ohm resistor is 0.895 A.

Brief Introduction:

>The electrical resistance of a circuit component or device is defined as the ratio of the voltage applied to the electric current which flows through it:

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀R=V/I

If the resistance is constant over a considerable range of voltage, then Ohm's law, I = V/R,

Correct Question:

>A battery of 6V is connected in series with resisters of 0.1 ohm , 0.15 ohm,0.2 ohm,0.25 ohm and 6 ohm. How much current would flow through the 0.3 ohm resistor? \:

Given:

>A battery of 6 V is connected in series with resisters of 0.1 ohm, 0.15 ohm.0.2 ohm 0.25 ohm and 6 ohm.

Step by step explanation:

In series combination the equivalent resistance is given by :

R=R1+ R2 + R3...

R=0.1+0.15+0.2+0.25+6

R=6.7Ω

Net resistance of the circuit is 6.7 ohms. We need to find the current flowing through the 0.3 ohms resistor.

We know that in series combination, the current through each and every resistor is same. The current flowing through the 0.3 ohms resistor is :

V=IR

I=V/R

I=6/6.7Ω

I = 0.895 A

So, the current flow through the 0.3 ohm resistor is 0.895 A.

Hence, this is the required solution.

Valuable points:

>The electrical resistance of a wire would be expected to be greater for a longer wire, less for a wire of larger cross sectional area, and would be expected to depend upon the material out of which the wire is made.

>A simple circuit is one in which there is a single voltage source and a single resistance.

>One statement of Ohm’s law gives the relationship between current I, voltage V, and resistance R in a simple circuit to be

I=V/R

>Resistance has units of ohms (Ω), related to volts and amperes by 1 Ω = 1 V/A.

>There is a voltage or IR drop across a resistor, caused by the current flowing through it, given by V = IR.

Questions to practice:

>What is meant by electric current? Name and define its SI unit. In a conductor electrons are flowing from B to A. What is the direction of conventional current? Give justification for your answer.

>A steady current of 1 ampere flows through a conductor. Calculate the number of electrons that flows through any section of the conductor in 1 second. (Charge on electron 1.6 X 10-19 coulomb).
