Thus the potential difference between the terminals of the battery is V = 11.25 V

Explanation:

We are given that:

e.m.f of battery = 15 V

Resistance = 3 ohm, 3 ohm and 6 ohm

To Find: Potential difference = ?

Solution:

The total resistance is = 3Ω + 3Ω + 6Ω  = 12 Ω

Current "I" = V / R = 15 / 12 = 1.25 A

Now

Terminal voltage is given by the equation V=emf−Ir

V = 15 - ( 1.35 x 3) = 15 - 3.75 = 11.25 V

Thus the p.d between the terminals of the battery is V = 11.25 V
