A battery of e.m.f. 3.0 V supplies current through a circuit in which the resistance can be changed. A high resistance voltmeter is connected across the battery. When the current is 1.5 A, the voltmeter reads 2.7 V.  The internal resistance of the battery is

Answer:

First of all it is a series connection and we need to use ohm's law to find the answer.

Now, external resistance will be equal to voltmeter reading divided by current.

So, ext.R = 2.7/1.5 = 1.8ohm

Now, we will find total resistance by using the voltage supplied by the battery.

Total R = 3/1.5 = 2ohm

Now, internal resistance = Total R - ext R

Int R = 2 - 1.8

Int R = 0.2ohm
