A beach has a 480 yard wall separating it from a sidewalk. Every 240 feet, there is a break in the wall for access to the beach. How many access points are there along the
wall? (Assume that there is no access to the beach at the ends of the wall.)

Answer:

480 yards = 1440 feets

As there is break after every 240 feet

total number of breaks in the wall = 1440/240 = 6

But this also includes a break at the end of the wall, so access points along the wall assuming no access to the beach at the ends of the wall

= 6-1 = 5
