Given :

Acid and water = Acid : water = 1 : x

Ratio of Acid and water = 2 : 5

Mixture = 300 ml

Water = 50 ml.

According to the question :

☞ Acid and water = Acid + water,

=> ( x + 1 ) or ( 1 + x )

☞ Mixture = 300 x water = 50 x,

=> 300 x + 50 x

=> 350 x

☞ Ratio of Acid : Water = 2 : 5,

=> 2 + 5

=> 7.

Equation :

☞ Mixture × Ratio of water ( Acid + water ) = Ratio of Acid ( Acid + water ) [ ( Mixture + water ) + water ]

=> 300 × 5 ( x + 1 ) = 2 ( x + 1 ) ( 350x + 50 ) [ ( cancel ( x + 1 ) and ( x + 1 ) ]

=> 300 × 5 = 2 ( 350x + 50 )

=> 1500 = ( 700x + 100 )

=> 700x = 1500 - 100

=> 700x = 1400

=> x = 1400 / 700

=> x = 2

Therefore, x = 2.
