Given -

  • Length of bedsheet = 30m

  • Breadth of bedsheet = 20m

  • Measure of strip = 4m

To find -

  • Area of remaining bedsheet and strip.

Solution -

Area of bedsheet = L × B

where,

L = Length

B = Breadth

On substituting the values -

Area of bedsheet = L × B

Area of bedsheet = 20m × 20m

\longmapsto Area of bedsheet = 600m²

Now,

As 4m strip is being cut the length and Breadth will be decreased by 8 units, as 2 units from length and 2 units from Breadth.

So,

New length = length - (4 × 2)

New length = 30m - (4 × 2)

New length = 30m - 8

\longmapsto New length = 22m

Similarly,

New breadth = Breadth - (4 × 2)

New Breadth = 20m - (4 × 2)

New breadth = 20m - 8

\longmapsto New Breadth = 12m

Now,

Area of remaining bedsheet = new length × New Breadth

On substituting the values -

Area = L × B

Area = 22m × 12m

\longmapsto Area = 264m²

At the end -

Area of strip = Area of bedsheet - Area of remaining bedsheet

On substituting the values -

Area of strip = 600m - 264m

\longmapsto Area of strip = 336m

\therefore Area of bedsheet is 600m, Area of remaining bedsheet is 264m and area if strip is 336m
