A bee sets out of its beehive, flies 15√3 m in the east, turns down, descends 12 m flying vertically downwards, then turns in the south, flies 9m and finally reaches a flower 5s after its sets out off its beehive. What is magnitude of average velocity vector ?

Given:

A bee sets out of its beehive, flies 15√3 m in the east, turns down, descends 12 m flying vertically downwards, then turns in the south, flies 9m.

To find:

Average Velocity after 5 seconds?

Calculation:

The net displacement will be :

 \rm \: d =  \sqrt{  {(15 \sqrt{3}) }^{2}  +  {12}^{2}   +  {9}^{2} }

 \rm  \implies\: d =  \sqrt{ 675 +  144 + 81}

 \rm  \implies\: d =  \sqrt{900}

 \rm  \implies\: d = 30 \: m

Now, average velocity :

 \rm \: avg. \: v =  \dfrac{30}{5}

 \rm  \implies\: avg. \: v = 6\: m {s}^{ - 1}

So, average velocity is 6 m/s.
