A is for 12 months in the venture.
B is for x months.

Let, y be the profit per month.

Profit gained by A= 12y
Profit gained by B= xy

Ratio of profit sharing = 3:1
12y:xy = 3:1
x=4

Since, amount invested by B is half, he needs to remain for twice the time.

So, total time spent by B= 8 months
