Given :-

Initial velocity = 5 m/s

Time = 5 sec

Acceleration = 2 m/s²

To Find :-

Velocity

Solution :-

We know that

v = u + at

v = 5 + (2) (5)

v = 5 + 10

v = 15 m/s

Know More :-

\bf Equation\; of\;motion\left\{\begin{array}{ccc}\bf 1^{st} \; equation \dashrightarrow v=u+at\\\bf 2^{nd} \;equation\dashrightarrow s = ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^2\\\bf 3^{rd}\; equation\dashrightarrow v^2-u^2=2as\end{array}\right\}

Where

\begin{cases}\bf v = Final\;velocity\\\bf u = Initial\;velocity\\ \bf a = Acceleration\\ \bf t = Time \\ \bf s = Distance\end{cases}

Appropriate Question :

  • A bicycle initially moving with a velocity 5.0m/s accelerates for 5s at a rate of 2m/s square.What will be the final velocity.

Answer :

  • Final velocity of the bicycle = 15 m/s

Given :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 5 m/s
  • Rate of acceleration (a) = 2m / s²
  • Time (t) = 5s

To find :

  • Final velocity (v)

Solution :

To find the final velocity, we have to use the first equation of motion formula:

  • Let the final velocity be v

We know that,

  • v = at + u

Where, v is final velocity, a is acceleration, t is time and u is Initial velocity

➨ v = at + u

➨ v = 2(5) + 5

➨ v = 10 + 5

➨ v = 15

Hence , Final velocity of the bicycle = 15 m/s

More Explanation about equation of motion :

  • v = at + u
  • s = ut + 1/2 at²
  • v² = u² + 2as
  • Where , u is Initial velocity , v is final velocity, a is acceleration, t is time taken and s is distance
