Answer:

Momentum of truck is greater because it has greater mass than bicycle

Explanation:

Given:

A bicycle whose:

  • Mass = 7 kg
  • Velocity = v

A truck whose:

  • Mass = 100 kg
  • Velocity = v

To find:

Which has a greater momentum

Solution:

We know that:

Momentum = Mass × Velocity

For bicycle:

Momentum = 7 × v

→ Momentum = 7v

For truck:

Momentum = 100 × v

→ Momentum = 100v

Momentum of truck > Momentum of bicycle

Answer:

Truck has the greater momentum

Explanation:

Here it is Given that a bicycle of mass 7 Kg and a truck of mass 100 Kg and they having same velocity let say v m/s.

Now , As we know that the formula for momentum ( p) is -;

       p=mv , where m is the mass in kg and v is the velocity in m/s

And with this relation we can see that p is directly proportional to mass and the velocity but here in this problem velocity given is same for both bicycle and truck so the momentum will only depend upon the mass and whose mass will greater their momentum will also greater i.e. the truck

So for the bicycle ;                    And for the truck;

p = 7 kg *v                                         p = 100 kg *v

p=7v kg*m/s                                      p = 100v kg*m/s
