Answer:

70 cm (approx)

Step-by-step explanation:

Circumference of wheel

= 11 km / 5000

= 11000 m / 5000

= 2.2 m

Relationship between circumference and diameter, d, is:

circumference = πd

=> d = circumference / π

= 2.2 m / π

≈ 0.7 m

= 70 cm

Solution :

If r be the radius of the wheel of the bicycle, then its

    • perimeter = 2πr units

    • diameter = 2r units

In a single revolution, the wheel of the bicycle goes the distance equal to its perimeter.

In a single revolution,

    the wheel covers

    2πr units distance

In 5000 revolutions,

    the wheel covers

    (5000 * 2πr) units distance

    = 10000πr units distance

11 km = 11 * 1000 m = 11000 m

By the given condition, the wheel goes 11 km in 5000 revolutions

 Then, 10000πr = 11000

 i.e., r = 11000 / (10000π) m

 = 11000 * (10000 * 22 / 7 ) m [ π = 22/7 ]

 = (11000 * 7) / (10000 * 22) m

 = 77000 / 220000 m

 = 0.35 m

So, the radius of the wheel = 0.35 m

Thus, the diameter of the wheel

  = 2r m

  = 2 * 0.35 m

  = 0.70 m

= 0.70 * 100 cm

= 70 cm
