Step-by-step explanation:

Cubes is one of the most frequently asked puzzle topics in CAT. These puzzles require us to think visually about the puzzle, which makes it somewhat tougher than other type of puzzles. We will discuss the basic concepts of the cube and few things that we would be using is majority of the puzzles related to cubes. Cube related puzzles are asked in a number of ways unlike selection or arrangement puzzles, where the primary pattern remains the same. We will illustrate some of the types of puzzles and the approach one should use to solve such problems. We will focus our discussion on what would happen to a cube when we cut it with a certain number of cuts, shape of the cube a solid with equal faces (total 6 faces).

Given :- A big cube has each portion of 44 cm. Tiny cubes of 4 cm portion each are cut from that. Then how many tiny cubes will be formed that are surrounded by at least one cube ?

(1) 888

(2) 729

(3) 164

(4) 33

Solution :-

→ Length of each portion of big cube = 44 cm.

and,

→ Length of each portion of tiny cube = 4 cm.

then,

→ Total length is divided into = 44/4 = 11 parts.

So,

→ x + 2 = 11

→ x = 11 - 2

→ x = 9 cm.

therefore,

→ The number of cubes will be formed such that each face of these cubes is surrounded by other cubes is = (x)³ = (9)³ = 729 (2) (Ans.)
