Given : A bike drove 30 miles during a one hour trip.

To Find : Show that bike speed was equal to 30 mile / hour at least once during the trip.

Solution:

bike speed was not equal to 30 mile / hour even once during the trip.

iff  Either speed was always less than 30 miles/hr or always more than 30 miles/hr

Other wise speed has to transit through 30 miles per hour atleast once,

Assume That Speed  remains always less than 30 mile per hour

Hence Distance covered  < 30 * 1

=> Distance covered  < 30  miles

so not possible

Assume That Speed  remains always more than 30 mile per hour

Hence Distance covered  >  30 * 1

=> Distance covered  > 30  miles

so not possible

So if speed is less than 30 then it has to be more than 30 also to get average 30  or has to be 30 throughout the journey,

Hence  Either Speed has to be always 30 miles per hour

or at least once during the trip.
