Let the total distance be 2x

Express the time taken for the first part of the journey in term of x:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = x/24

Express the time taken for the second part of the journey in term of x:

Time = Distance ÷ Speed

Time = x/28

Solve x:

Given that the total time taken is 13 hours

x/28 + x/24 = 13

13x/168 = 13

x = 13 ÷ 13/168

x = 168 km

Find the distance:

Distance = 2x = 2(168) = 336 km

Answer: The total distance is 336 km
