Given:

Mass of bike,m= 1500 kg

Velocity of bike,v= 15 m/s

To Find:

Kinetic energy of bike

Solution:

We know that,

  • Kinetic energy K is given by

\pink{\boxed{\bf{K=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^{2} }}}

where,

m is mass

v is velocity

\rule{190}{1}

Let the kinetic energy of bike be K

So,

\longrightarrow\rm{K=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm{K=\dfrac{1}{2}\times1500\times(15)^{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm{K=\dfrac{1}{2}\times1500\times225}

\longrightarrow\rm{K=\dfrac{337500}{2}}

\longrightarrow\rm\green{K=168750\ J}

\rule{190}{1}

Additional Information

Kinetic Energy

Kinetic energy is defined as the energy possessed by body by virtue of its motion.

Mass

Mass is defined as the amount of matter present in the substance.

Velocity

Velocity id defined as the ratio of total displacement of body to total time taken by body.

Given

→ A bike with a mass of 1500 kg is travelling of 15 metres per second.

  • Mass, m = 1500 kg
  • Velocity, v = 15 m/s

To Find

The kinetic energy (KE) of the bike.

Solution

As we know that,

\boxed{\sf{\color{red}{K.E.=\frac{1}{2}mv^2 }}}

Substituting the values :-

\displaystyle{\sf{\longmapsto K.E.=\frac{1}{2}\times1500\times(15)^2 }}\\\\\displaystyle{\sf{\longmapsto K.E.=750\times225}}\\\\\boxed{\displaystyle{\sf{\color{lime}{\longmapsto K.E.=168750\ J}}}}

Hence, the kinetic energy of the bike is 168750 Joules or 168.75 kJ.
