Answer:

15 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Hi,

Let the biker's speed be 'x' mph

Let the walker's speed be 'y' mph,

Given that x = 2.5*y = 5y/2------(1)

In 2 hours, distance travelled by biker will be '2x'

In 2 hours, distance travelled by walker will be '2y'

Given that  2x - 2y = 18--------(2)

Solving (1) and (2), we get y = 6 mph and x = 15 mph.

Hence , the biker's speed is 15 miles per hour.

Hope, it helped !

Answer:

Speed of biker is 15 miles/hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let speed of biker = x miles/hour

and

speed of walker = y miles/hour

Now According to first condition

x = 2.5 * y       ............(i)

Now

In 2 hours time

Biker will cover distance = 2 x  miles

Walker will also cover distance = 2 y miles

Now According to second condition

2x - 2y = 18 miles           ..............(ii)

From first condition we have  x = 2.5*y

putting it in equation (ii) it becomes

2(2.5y) - 2y = 18

5y - 2y  = 18

3 y  =18

Dividing both sides by 3 it becomes

y = 6 miles/hour

Now for value of x we have

x = 2.5 * y

putting value of y

x = 2.5*6

x = 15 miles / hour

Speed of biker is 15 miles/hour
