Explanation:

Let the bike start from point 'A', and travel to point 'B' for 700 m towards the north, then to point C for 300m towards the east, again to point D for 400 m towards the north, then to point E for 600 meters towards the west, then the biker travels to point F for 1200m towards the south, again the biker travels to point G for 300m towards the east, and finally again to point A for 100m towards the north, as shown in the figure.

Now distance traveled by bike is from A→B→C→D→E→F→G→A

i.e. 700 + 300 + 400 + 600 + 1200 + 300 + 100

⇒distance = 3600 m

But as the starting point and the destination of the bike are the same, the displacement of the bike is zero.

Therefore, the distance and the displacement traveled by bike are 3600m and 0m respectively.
