solution :
on cooling though the same temperature, M1 contracts more than M2. hence, thermal expansion of first metal is higher than that of 2nd metal. we know, strip will bend with the metal of greater coefficient of thermal expansion on outer side i.e., convex side. so, bimetallic strip will bend towards M2.

Question: A bimetallic strip is made of metals M1 and M2. On cooling through the same temperature, M1 contract more than M2. When the strip is heated, it will?
Solution: Bend towards M2.
Explanation: Because M1 contracts more than M2 on cooling, M1 will also expand more than M2 on heating. Hence, the strip will bend towards M2.
