Sarojini Naidu was one of the freedom fighters of India. She was a great poetess too; through her poems, she awakened the spirit of freedom struggle of India. She was known as the ‘Nightingale of India’. Sarojini Naidu was very brilliant since her childhood; she started writing poems from a very young age.
She went to London for pursuing higher studies where she met her soulmate Paidipatti Govindarajulu Naidu and they decided to marry. Sarojini Naidu was introduced into politics and freedom struggle for India by Gopal Krishna Gokhale. She got the guidance from Mahatma Gandhi to get involved in the freedom struggle and fought for the attainment of ‘swaraj’ or self-rule.
