Answer:

Once in a forest, there lived a lion who was very hungry as he did not eat anything for 5 days. He once saw a rabbit asleep under the tree. He quietly crept behind him and caught it. Just as he was about to bite it's throat, thus killing him, he saw two deer run past him. He left the rabbit alone under the tree and told him not to go anywhere while he hunted the deer. He ran after the deer leaving the rabbit alone. The rabbit who sensed the opportunity ran for his life. The deer outran the lion in a few minutes and the lion went back towards the tree to eat the rabbit. When he came back, he saw that the rabbit had disappeared and he was left hungry.

Moral : A bird in hand is worth two in a bush.

Answer:

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush

The proverb "A bird in the hand is worth two" teaches us the lesson of contentment. Contentment means being happy with we have instead of complaining and wanting what we don't have. We must recognise the value of what already belongs to us. Otherwise, we are at great risk of losing everything while trying to get something we assume is better than what we already have. It is wiser to hold on to whatever we have than to risk losing it all in the process of trying to gain something which we think is better.

The proverb "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" is a way of saying that it is better to be satisfied with what we have. We must not become greedy or envious. When we foolishly run after things in order to gain more and more, we may end up losing all our possession and ruin ourselves.

Story: The greedy dog

Once a dog found a piece of bone. He was walking with the bone in his mouth looking for a nice place to eat the bone. Soon he reached a river bridge. While walking across the bridge, he looked down in the water and saw his own reflection. He thought that it was another dog with a bone. He immediately jumped into the river to get what he thought was another bone. In the process he lost his own bone.

Moral: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We should be satisfied with what is already in our possession because while trying to get something which we think is better, we may lose everything.
