answer : 3.3 m

explanation : the fish is appearing in water (i.e., denser medium) while the bird is flying 2.4m above the surface of water (i.e., in rare medium).

refractive index of water, μ = 4/3

use formula,

real depth of fish in water from the surface of water/apparent depth = μ

or, 1.2m/apparent depth = 4/3

or, apparent depth = 1.2/(4/3) = 0.9m

now, apparent distance of fish to the bird = height of bird from the water surface + apparent depth of fish

= 2.4m + 0.9m = 3.3 m
