Given info : a bird travel with velocity 2i+3j for 10s it takes rest for 10s and again flies with velocity 3i-2j for further 10s.

To find : Find the average speed and average velocity.

solution : average speed = total distance/total time taken.

total distance = |2i + 3j| + |3i - 2j|

= √(2² + 3²) + √(3² + 2²)

= √13 + √13

= 2√13

= 7.21 m

total time = 10s + 10s = 20s

so average speed = 7.21 m/20 s = 0.3605 m/s

average velocity = total displacement/total time taken

= (final position - initial position)/total time taken

= (3i - 2j - 2i - 3j)/20 m/s

= (i - 5j)/20

magnitude of average velocity = |i - 5j|/20 m/s

magnitude of average velocity = |i - 5j|/20 m/s = 0.255 m/s
