GiveN :

  • Displacement (s) = 3 m
  • Force applied (F) = 200 N
  • Angle of inclination (Θ) = 50°

To FinD :

  • Work Done to displace book

SolutioN :

Use formula for work done :

⇒Work Done = Force.displacement

⇒W = F.s

⇒W = Fs cosΘ

⇒W = 200 * 3 * cos50°

⇒W = 600 * cos50°

⇒W = 600 * 0.64

⇒W = 384 (approx.)

\therefore Work Done to displace book is 384 J (approx.)

Additional Information :

• When force is applied on an object, and object displace in the direction of force applied, then work is said to be done.

• SI unit of Work Done is Joule (J).

• Force and displacement are vector quantities, and Work done is scalar quantity. Because when two vector quantities are multiplied then their resultant is always scalar quantity.
