Solving it out :

We have :

  • μ = 0.10

Initial velocity (u) is of 10m/s.

Final velocity (v) is 0.

We know that ,

  • a = μg

Here,

  • a is acceleration
  • μ is coefficient of kinetic ffriction.

Now, using 3rd equation of motion :

  • v² = u² + 2as

Here,

  • S is displacement
  • u is initial velocity
  • v is final velocity

(0)² = (10)² - 2 × (0.1 × 10) × S

0 = (10 × 10) - 2 × (0.1 × 10) × S

0 = 100 - 2 × 1 × S

0 = 100 - 2S

2S = 100

S = 100 / 2

S = 50m

Therefore,

  • It will travel 50m before coming to rest.
