A block is sliding on a horizontal surface. If the contact force on the block is root2 times the frictional force, the coefficient of friction is

pranaykamal: are you sure about the term "contact force" ? because contact force implies it is the resultant of both normal and frictional forces

If the contact force is only normal force, then

              coefficient of friction(μ) = 1/√2

If the contact force is both friction and normal, then

                                                 μ = 1
