A block of weight, W= 5N is placed on ta horizontal table . A person pushes the block from top by exerting a downward force of F = 3N on it.
here we should know that weight always acts towards centre of earth. means, weight of block acts on table vertically downward and a person pushes block from top by force 3N vertically downward .
due to direction of both the forces are same.
so, net force act downward direction = 5N + 3N = 8N
now from Newton's 3rd law of motion,
force exerted by the table = 8N { directed in opposite direction. e.g., upward direction}
